Orthodontic Records Technician

Position Title: Orthodontic Records Technician

Reports To: Orthodontic Manager

Job Purpose: This position includes taking orthodontic records for our consultations and lab work (primarily making retainers). This is a great entry level position for someone looking to start a career in Orthodontics.

This position is a full-time role 4-5 days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment
  • Take orthodontic records (panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, intraoral photos/iTero
  • scan, composite photographs, etc), upload and crop/edit photos, etc. 
  • Maintain proper sterilization records
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of the orthodontic lab
  • Perform basic lab tasks such as printing models and making retainers
  • Ensure the lab and sterilization area is clean and orderly
  • Assist the orthodontic team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Xray Certification required
  • Experience in dental and lab work is preferred but not required; training will be
  • provided
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Working conditions:

Encounter clinical and office environment in work routine. Variable degrees of mental and physical stress; variable amounts of standing, sitting and walking. Exposure to blood, body fluids and contaminates is possible (clinicians). Frequent intervals devoted to keyboard manipulation for imputing and retrieving data. Limited physical activity related to moving, lifting, and transporting objects.

Physical requirements:

Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active practice. Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and adequate vision and hearing are needed in daily work.
