Certified Dental Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
A dental assistant performs a variety of dental assisting duties, in compliance with state regulations, to promote quality dental care for patients/parents in a stress-free, comfortable environment. Assists the doctor or hygienist, instructs patients/parents in oral hygiene techniques, communicates effectively with patients/parents, maintains equipment and inventory, exposes radiographs, adheres to OSHA requirements.

General duties include:

  • Expose radiographs as needed
  • Review patients’ medical history and records
  • Prepare patients for diagnosis and/or treatment
  • Assist doctor or hygienist during treatment
  • Charting and record treatment information in chart
  • Perform post-operative patient care
  • Take impressions and bite registrations
  • Apply fluoride desensitizer and/or varnish
  • Clean and stock operatories
  • Control supplies and order as needed
  • Lab work including bleach trays, temporary crowns, pouring and trimming models, unpack and follow lab cases
  • Perform any reasonable request from manager and/or DMDs
  • Responsible for complying with OSHA, HIPAA security, and privacy policies at all times.

Qualifications:

  • DANB CDA preferred
  • High school graduate or GED required
  • 1+ years Dental experience
  • Radiology certified in NH required

Physical requirements:

Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active practice. Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and adequate vision and hearing are needed in daily work.
